Benjamin Papa draws from his education and experience in psychology, law, and religion as he partners with business and organizational leaders to creatively address their leadership development needs. Ben came to the world of leadership coaching and consulting after nearly two decades of practicing law.

Ben was widely regarded as the “problem solving” attorney of choice for Middle Tennessee divorce clients who wanted to take a breath and figure out how to navigate the complicated legal, emotional, and financial issues that are always present in divorce cases without resorting to stressful, expensive, and time-consuming litigation. To that end, Ben was largely responsible for bringing Collaborative Divorce to Middle Tennessee in 2009, serving as the Founding President of the Middle Tennessee Collaborative Alliance, the local Collaborative Divorce practice group. He served two additional terms on the Board of Directors over the years.

His Collaborative Divorce practice frequently afforded him the opportunity to collaborate successfully on teams with mental health and financial professionals as well as other attorneys to guide clients as they made tough settlement decisions in complex divorces that frequently included high interpersonal conflict and/or a complicated financial picture. He helped his clients hone their communication and collaboration skills to stay grounded and make intelligent decisions even in the midst of great stress and uncertainty. He now employs that same set of skills as he trains and coaches executives and other leaders as they work to make their businesses and organizations thrive in today’s complicated environment.

His leadership in Collaborative Divorce also led him to co-found the Institute for Family Conflict Resolution in 2014, which developed and delivered Collaborative Divorce trainings and workshops to professionals across the country, including multiple presentations at the Annual Forum of the International Association of Collaborative Professionals as well as a presentation at the American Bar Association Family Law Conference.

He lives in Brentwood, TN with his family and enjoys hiking in the mountains, reading, and dinner with friends.
